Abstract

Fallopian tube (FT) is joined to the upper part of uterus. It is located anterior to the ovary. Medially the tube ends in the uterine cavity and laterally it ends near the ovary in the peritoneal cavity. The total length of FT is 9–12 cm. FT is divided into four parts from medial to lateral i.e. intramural, isthmic, ampullary and fimbrial. Mucosal layer, muscularis layer and serosal layer are three layers of FT. This chapter mainly focuses on the blood supply and lymphatics, non-neoplastic lesions of fallopian tube and salpingitis isthmica nodosa. This chapter also discusses the tubal pregnancy, torsion and tumors of the FT. A detailed discussion on the cysts and female adnexal tumor of probable wolffian origin has been discussed in this chapter. A well-illustrated table on comparison of different cysts in fallopian tube and 24 well-colored figures are also presented in this chapter, which are very helpful for students and readers.
