The uterus is divided into three parts: body, isthmus and cervix. Cervix is the lower most part of uterus. The cervix is attached with the lower part of the body of uterus by fibromuscular tube known as isthmus. The upper part of cervical canal opens into the body of uterus by canal through internal orifice of the uterus. The lower part of cervix is projected into vagina. The vaginal wall is attached with cervix circumferentially and is divided cervix into two parts: upper supravaginal and a lower vaginal. The cervix is cylindrical structure with 3 cm in length and 2.5 cm in diameter in adult nulligravida. This chapter mainly focuses on the histology, squamous epithelium, columnar epithelium, stroma, squamocolumnar junction and transformation zone, changes in normal menstrual cycle and pregnancy-induced changes. This chapter also discusses the arias-stella reaction, squamous metaplasia, immature squamous metaplasia, tubal metaplasia, transitional cell metaplasia, inflammation of cervix and hyperplasia of cervix. Deep endocervical glands and cysts, endocervical polyp and tunnel clusters are also discussed in this chapter.
