Abstract

Philosophy is an attempt to think truly about human experience or to make out whole experience intelligible. Philosophy of nursing education is the written statement of the believes, values, attitudes and ideas, which the faculty as a group agreed upon in relation to the nursing educational program such as health, disease, nursing, nurse, nursing profession, education, learner, society, patient, nursing education and preparation of nurses. This chapter covers the philosophy of education, factors influencing development of philosophy of nursing education. Factors influencing development of philosophy of nursing education include philosophy and aims of education, philosophy and curriculum, philosophy and textbook, philosophy and methods, philosophy and discipline, philosophy and teacher, and philosophy and evaluation. Every educational system is based upon specific teaching methodological and curriculum. What should be the teaching methodology? And what kind of teacher should be? And what kind of curriculum be taught to the student? All the answers are given by philosophy.
