Abstract

Attitude scales are used for measuring the social attitudes. Questionnaire is prepared by the items in the questionnaire are the attitudes of an individual toward a matter thing, and object or system and score will be allotted for each item. Types of attitude scales are point scale, differential scale (LL Thurstone scale), summated (likert) scale, cumulative scale or social distance scale, scalogram (guttman) method, and semantic differential or attitude scale. Differential scales are used to measure the social phenomenon. Summated (Likert) scale uses only the definitely favorable and unfavorable statements. It excludes intermediate opinions. It consists of a series of statements to which the respondent is to react. The respondent indicated the degree of agreement or disagreement.
