This chapter discusses techniques and methods of staff education program, which include panel discussion, conference, seminar, workshop, symposium, auto-instructional methods, summer and winter institutes, refresher courses, and orientation training. A conference is a meeting of individuals called together to engage in discussion with the aim of accomplishing a limited task in a limited time. It is organized to discuss current problems with a view to providing a workable solution. It is generally organized by organization having permanence as an attribute. A seminar is generally used as one of the common devices to impart information regarding specific topic to develop higher cognitive abilities—analysis, synthesis, evaluation and observation, and to develop co-operation and toleration among the participant.
