The chapter elaborates on dermatitis, also called eczema. The three stages of eczema are acute, subacute and chronic. Acute stage shows red, edematous, oozing plaques with small, grouped vesicles. Subacute stage features red plaques with scale or crusting and less blistering. Chronic stage features lichenification. Itching is severe and is the hallmark of the disease. Other types discussed in the chapter are discoid eczema, asteatotic eczema, dermatitis of the hands and feet, stasis eczema, insect bite hypersensitivity, and erythroderma.
