This chapter describes the miscellaneous topics such as blindness, vision 2020, and causes of loss of vision. Blindness is a lack of vision. It may also refer to a loss of vision that cannot be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. Vision 2020 is a global initiative by the WHO to eliminate avoidable blindness. It was launched at Geneva in 1999. Causes of sudden painful loss of vision include trauma, acute keratitis, acute angle closure glaucoma, and acute iridocyclitis. Causes of sudden painless loss of vision include vitreous haemorrhage, central retinal artery obstruction (CRAO), branch retinal artery obstruction (BRAO), central retinal vein obstruction (CRVO), and branch retinal vein obstruction (BRVO).
