Abstract

This chapter talks about dermatology. This chapter is divided into four sections that cover the acne vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, impetigo, and scabies. The presentation of acne vulgaris is so typical that diagnosis cannot be missed. However, the knowledge of the types of acne vulgaris gives a preamble to management of the same. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an acute, subacute, but usually chronic pruritic inflammation of the epidermis and dermis, often occurring in association with a personal or family history of hay fever, asthma, allergic rhinitis or AD. Impetigo is a contagious superficial epidermal infection that is common in children, with a peak incidence between ages 2 and 6. In the United Kingdom, there is a reported annual incidence of 2.8% in children up to 4 years of age and 1.6% in children between the ages of 5 years and 15 years.
