The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) specialty series in Pediatric Cardiology seeks to provide a comprehensive working knowledge of pediatric cardiac care to a broad audience that includes postgraduate students, practicing pediatricians and pediatric cardiac professionals. This book is comprised of 10 sections that mainly focus on introduction to the specialty of pediatric cardiology, fundamentals of pediatric cardiology, diagnostic tools, therapeutic tools, medical issues, congenital heart defects, acquired heart disease, miscellaneous, and cardiovascular involvement in other system disorders, which are further divided into 55 chapters. Recognizing the need for a thoroughly revised content, the 3rd edition of this textbook has been entirely re-written from scratch. The book harnesses the collective expertise of a number of pediatric cardiac experts in the country, many of whom are experienced teachers in leading academic institutions. The content has been completely re-organized and greatly expanded. Several new chapters have been added to this edition. These include chapters on screening, counseling of parents, pediatric cardiac intensive care and common problems in office practice. This endeavor will serve the needs of all pediatricians who care for children with heart disease.
