Abstract

Keraring Intrastromal corneal ring seg-ments, are implantable precision de-vices for the correction of surface ir-regularities and reduction of refractiveerrors associated to keratoconus and other corneal ectasias. Keraring implantation accomplishes the corneoplastique concept which attempts to improve the patient’s optics, topography, visual acuity and reduce or eliminate the refractive error in order to stabilize the cornea, avoiding or delaying the need for corneal transplantation. The present chapter will describe advantages, indications, contraindications, mechanism of action, manual and IntraLase technique, nomograms, and postoperative care.
