Abstract

Presbyopia is characterized as a progressive age-related loss of accommodative amplitude. It is known to set in late 40’s as the human accommodative amplitude starts decreasing from this age. The human crystalline lens, ciliary muscles and zonules are the vital structures involved in maintaining the accommodative state in the young age. This article discusses different procedures proposed for treatment of presbyopia in phakic patients.
