4Preface
Wound healing has been the subject of a fantastic development since the last decade. The World Union of Wound Healing Societies represents a group of more than 5000 professionals spread all over the world, all members of the national groups and societies involved in wound healing. Techniques and management guidelines are still the subject of discussions in many continents, but it has been evidence based medicine demonstrated that the first mandatory step in wound management is the wound debridement. Debridement can be done by many different techniques, some of them being more progressive than others. The choice of the technique depends on the type of wound, the etiology, the degree of infection and the level of resources available. In this direction you can either choose a rapid expensive solution or a more progressive and safe cheap one.
Step by step debridement in wound healing represents the first issue of a long WUWHS Educational Program series.
