6Preface
This book aims to provide the novice undergraduate physiotherapy students basic understanding of the physiotherapy principles and interventions. Other health care professionals as well as students from science background perplexed about their future can utilise the book to have an understanding with regard to the scope of physiotherapy profession. I tried to be as simple and explicit as possible. Wherever possible I have utilised established references, specifically for defining certain terminologies. Introductory chapter has definition by me as well as definitions from various associations and societies having worldwide recognition and reputation, including our home association the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP).
Physiotherapy is a fast growing profession and has its role in every branch of medicine and surgery, and sports. Although I have not included the details of clinical conditions, relevant examples are included in the various sections as appropriate. As this is a fundamental book, I tried to include lots of pictures of person demonstration, equipment and line diagrams for easy understanding.
As this is my first book for publication, I realise the potential drawbacks. I look forward for critical comments from the readers in order to amend in future.
