4Preface to the Second Edition
It is a pleasure in presenting you the Nurses' Dictionary in this new millennium. Nursing is a profession and by all means the only sacrificial job which aims at the service of mankind irrespective of caste, color and creed.
Today as, we stand as a globular community get affected by natural disasters and people by large are stranded for need of medicines we are appalled at it.
This book greatly comes at a time when doctors and nurses act as always in reciprocation of attending to oral verbatims. The world of medical technology both in written and scientific features greatly infuses the students and faculties with lifelong adaptations of new references. The book is a compilation of 150 new illustrations, 350 entries as well as subentries presented in all color.
This book will be a great reservoir of the subject vocabulary and terminology.
I hope the book races against time and tide and overcomes many frontiers in the field of nursing position.
I would greatly appreciate the feedback since I hope it would enable me for further improvisation of the book.

5Preface to the First Edition
Nursing is a speciality in its own right. Implementation of any health programme at community or hospital level needs active participation of nursing staff. Hence, nursing education has received a major thrust in recent times.
Medical vocabulary useful for nurses is expanding at a rapid pace. Old and obsolete words are being deleted. New procedures and investigations are being added regularly. A nursing dictionary is an effective tool of providing not only meaning of commonly used medical terms but also about procedures, investigations and pharmacological agents in brief.
In this book, I have compiled and presented the commonly used terms and their meaning without any emphasis on their pronunciation and etymon. I hope the width and depth of its coverage will be advantageous for the nursing community.
All suggestions for improvement are cordially welcome.
