Preface
5The Practical Workbook of Human Physiologyhas been prepared by us for the first year MBBS students of various medical colleges across the country. The Practical Workbook will also benefit the students of first year BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BPT and M.Sc. Physiology courses. Different textbooks of Physiology and Clinical Medicine as well as relevant websites have been consulted for the preparation of the workbook.
The Contents describes Experiments and Demonstration Experiments under the main headings of Respiratory System, Cardiovascular System, Central Nervous System, Reproductive System and Mammalian Experiments. Under the heading ‘Experiments’, the list of experiments are given which are to be performed by the students themselves. Demonstration experiments are those where the students are given practical demonstrations of the experiments. During the Vertical Orientation Program, the students visit various clinical departments to learn about Echocardiography, Holter and Stress ECG and latest trends and techniques adopted for testing Pulmonary Functions. This program encourages the students to learn Physiology and Pathophysiology of various ailments through interaction with clinical departments.
We are of the opinion that the Practical Workbook of Human Physiology will provide all the pertinent experimental and clinical material related to different experiments at one place for the benefit of First Year Medical Students and students of allied disciplines in the subject of Physiology.
We are thankful to Dr. Anjana MS and Dr. Suneet Khurana for their help in the preparation of the practical workbook. The secretarial assistance provided by Ms. Satinder Kaur and Ms. Parminder Kaur is duly acknowledged.
