Foreword
It is my proud privilege to write the Foreword for this book “Practical Cases in Obstetrics and Gynecology,” authored and edited by Dr Kanan Yelikar, Prof. and Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Govt. MCH, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
This book is specially meant for MBBS and above students, to help them out for their practical preparation. It is a common observation of all the teachers that, a student has lot of theoretical knowledge, not knowing exactly how to put it in proper words during viva-voce. Here is the place of this book, for every student… A must read book in Obstetrics and Gynecology for practical exams.
I appreciate the efforts and hard work of Dr Kanan Yelikar in bringing all the professors and teachers together, from renowned institutions, to contribute to this book.
I wish all the success to Dr Kanan Yelikar. I admire the attitude of a teacher in her heart of imparting knowledge to everyone, wherever and whenever possible.
Our very best wishes to you.

11Preface
I am extremely happy to bring about my book on “Practical Cases in Obstetrics and Gynecology” for MBBS and above students. The idea of editing and publishing such a type of book, came in, when my daughter Ashwini was appearing for her III MBBS practical exams. When she demanded that I must teach her complete syllabus of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2 hours time, which was next to impossible. And the idea of having a book totally, dedicated to practical cases was born.
I am thankful to all my contributors, who have been carefully chosen, for their vast experience in teaching who were kind enough for their timely contribution.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dean, Govt. MCH, Aurangabad and the Director Medical Education, State of Maharashtra for permitting to go ahead with my endeavour.
Thanks to Dr Nagnath Kottapale, Vice Chancellor Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University for his Foreword. It would not have been possible to publish this book without Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers specially Mr Tarun Duneja who was kind enough to accept my book.
Last but not the least, my colleagues and postgraduates from the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology who supported me throughout the year (special mention of Dr Sonali Deshpande, Dr Ajeet Deshmukh, Dr Kapil and Dr Swati).
I am indebted to my family members Dr Avinash, Ashwini, Aditya and my mother in law Smt. Laxmibai Yelikar for bearing with my long absentees.
I am thankful to all my patients and my dear students past and present, who are the constant source of inspiration.
Kanan Yelikar
