Forword
I feel pleasure in writing foreword for the Oral Medicine by Prof Satish Chandra and others. In the last three decades the fundamentals, theories and practice of oral medicine have undergone drastic changes due to advancements in the diagnostic and management techniques.
The knowledge about the impact of medical conditions and the diseases on the dental health care has dramatically increased in the last three decades. The average life expectancy has very much increased in recent years, which has also increased the importance of oral medicine due to the increased demand of dental treatments in medically compromised patients, especially the aged.
This book has completely covered all the topics of the subject with the basic fundamentals, theories and recent advances. The language is very simple, clear and lucid. Different stages of all the lesions have been illustrated with colored photographs. For pin-point identification the lesions have been pointed by the arrows and the arrow heads. The well illustrated presentations have made the reading very informative and interesting for the undergraduate and postgraduate students, teachers and practitioners. The very special feature of the book is the multiple choice questions, which are very useful especially to the students preparing for various competitive examinations.
The book has completely covered the syllabus of Dental Council of India. Overall this is an excellent book. I strongly recommend this book to all BDS and MDS students, teachers, researchers and the practitioners.
