6PREFACE
This book, a clinically oriented survey of cardiology, is written for post-graduate students of general medicine, who are required to have a sound knowledge of cardiology, a common speciality encountered in the examination and while practising as a physician. This book bridges the gap between elaborate texts and very precise handbooks. It deals with specific cardiovascular diseases. In each chapter, relevant features of basic cardiac science have been described briefly including pathogenesis along with elaboration on clinical features and management. Applied pharmacotherapeutics of important drugs and management procedures are explained as and where required. Summarization is incorporated in complex topics. The text accompanies ample line diagrams, tables and flow charts to make the subject matter easily unerstandable.
This book can also cater to the need of knowledge thirsty undergraduates wishing to have an edge over others and those attempting competitive exams.
In addition, it is designed to be of help to beginners in superspecialty and junior tutors.
