When Dr. Ashok Garg honored me with the opportunity to write the foreword to this book, he sent me the table of contents and the list of contributors. I knew immediately that the textbook he and his team of co-editors had planned to write, edit and publish would be an outstanding and, indeed, invaluable resource for both general ophthalmologists and vitreoretinal specialists.
My initial reaction proved to be right, for the book provides an admirably broad yet detailed overview of retinal diseases. In addition, the contributors have assembled a wonderful collection of illustrative fundus photographs and angiograms; thus, constituting a remarkable educational resource on diseased human fundi. Dr Garg and co-editors' efforts will be rewarded with the gratitude of clinicians and their patients.

In modern day busy and fast life ophthalmologists are glued to their clinical and surgical practice and have little time to read large volume books. The need of hour is to have pocket size ready recokner enriched with complete and uptodate information of the diseases in a most comprehensive manner. At present very few quality ready-reference books are available at an International level.
