5Preface
Although a number of books are available in the market on the subject of anatomy and physiology, there is no book for anatomy alone. Since anatomy is a separate paper and does not cover the syllabus of graduate standard, nursing students throughout the country might be finding problem in choosing the best book. The main object to write this book is to consolidate the necessary information required by the students of nursing.
Writing a book for BSc(Nursing) is a complex task because of difficulty in deciding what topics to include and what to leave. I have tried my best to ensure the inclusions of relevant topics which appeal to the nursing students. I have attempted to present the essential factors necessary for nurses into their practice. The text has been presented in a systematic way and the Embryology, the main and basic topic of the subject, is discussed in great detail.
Suggestion to new ideas for further improvement of this book shall be greatly appreciated and acknowledged.
I could not have come out with this book, had it not been helped and encouraged by my nursing students and Mr Ashokan, Department of PSM, Stanley Medical College.
I acknowledge my heartfelt gratitude to Mrs Raman, Principal, Omayal Aachi College for her invaluable advice and suggestions.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge the pleasure of working with publishing team of M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers, New Delhi.
