5Preface
Histology for Dental Students with Clinical Aspects is an interesting medium through which a teacher can converse to the students. The book speaks in a voice designed to rekindle the spark of originality, curiosity and creativity in the students.
Histology is an enduring science for understanding intricate morphology of the various organs of the human body in physiological and pathological conditions. The present work could be regarded as a pioneering endeavour intended to meet the long felt need of bringing forth a book on histology for dental undergraduates.
There are perhaps many objectives in the mind of the author when he attempts to write a textbook for the undergraduates of dentistry. Firstly, the volume of the book should be small, fairly complete, user-friendly, its language unambiguous yet precise and simple so that even the students having less command over english can understand the text very easily. On the other hand, the information provided should be uptodate, diagrams should be simple, clear and should suffice the need of the topic. I have tried the best to achieve the above objectives in this book.
The book attempts to provide all the relevant and essential text material required for undergraduate students and is written to help make the study of histology easier for the students in terms of labour and expense.
The inclusion of photomicrographs would enable the students to have a deep perception of complexities of structures viewed with a microscope. At the end a quick review has been presented to help the readers to have a bird's eye view of all the chapters. Index is comprehensive and specially designed for locating important terms, topics and concepts with ease.6
Although the primary aim of the book is to cater to the needs of first year dental students of Indian universities, nevertheless, it is strongly recommended that every student intended to have knowledge of histology must read it and it will also be useful to the students of other branches of paramedics.
It is inevitable to have errors of commission and omission and moreover the hectic pace at which this book is completed would have left tell tale signs throughout for which I take the onus and sincerely apologize at the outset for any kind of mistake.

7Acknowledgements
I am at paucity of words to offer heartfelt gratitude to my esteemed and elite teacher Dr KS Parihar, who has guided and inspired me to acquire knowledge in histology.
Words are too frail to express my indebtness to Dr DS Chowdhary and Dr Sushma Kataria for their scholastic guidance.
My special salute goes to Dr Vishram Singh and Dr Mohd. Rahmatullah for being supportive in my endeavour.
My earnest thanks to Dr RK Gupta, Chairman, SDCH whose sustained support restored my confidence at all stages of preparation of this piece of work.
I wish to express my deepest appreciation and gratefulness to Varun for his keen interest and incessant encouragement.
I offer my heartfelt thanks to Vipin and Sonika for constantly encouraging me to write the book.
I am profoundly grateful to Dr Manpreet and Dr YR Joshi for lending me the required help during photomicrography.
To the one I am indebted the most is my beloved wife Ruchi, who shared the strain of this project with utmost patience and understanding, whom I cannot repay in word for her, unflinching love and painstaking fortitude. The onerous task of preparation of diagrams could not have been completed without the willing and timely help and support provided by her.
Special thanks are due to Dr SM Singhvi, Dr Leena, Ms Usha Jeswar and Ms Jaskiran.
I also earnestly thank Shri JP Vij, Chairman and Manging Director, Mr Tarun Duneja, Director (Publishing), Mr Rawat, Mr Manoj Pahuja and Mr Devender of M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd.; without whose generous help this book could not have taken the present shape.
