5Preface
This book is named as guide instead of a textbook since the focus of this book is the syllabus of the undergraduate students, and the orientation is towards examination. The entire faculty of Department of Oral Pathology at Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital was involved in bringing out this guide. But for the spade work done by the postgraduate students Dr JP Rajguru and Dr SB Patil this book would not have been possible.
Since this guide is basically a compilation work from different reference books of international repute, there is no claim by the authors as to the originality of the text. The language is kept very simple and only the most popular concepts and theories have been presented. Histopathology diagrams are given only for the common lesions which we believe an undergraduate student must know.
