Diabetes mellitus is a major public health problem of epidemic level. In India its incidence is on rise. Diabetes licks the joints and bites the heart.
Diabetes is associated with atherosclerosis increasing the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke and peripheral neuritis. It is also the leading cause of blindness in aged persons, renal failure and non-traumatic leg amputation. The death rate of diabetic patients in the last decade has increased by 40 percent in totality.
Under such circumstances, it has become imperative to understand causative factors and effective management with the help of antidiabetic drugs, diet control and physical exercise in routine.
We are sure that this book will help the treating physicians and educated patients too.
