My dearest parents, for their never ending love, support and encouragement for me and for making me what I am today and forever
5Preface
The lymph node is an organ that is involved in most of the disease processes and hence presents to the pathologist, a vast array of diagnostic dilemmas. In this book, Aspiration Cytology of the Lymph Node, the text has been written in a very simplified and understandable manner, along with the corresponding photomicrographs provided for better understanding. The distinction between floridly reactive process and the beginning of atypical changes is usually very subtle. This book focuses in detail, beginning from the entire range of reactive, to infectious pathology, to the malignancies pertaining per se to the lymph node and those that are metastatic to it. It will greatly help the postgraduate residents as well as the consultants working in the discipline of pathology. All the photomicrographs are originally taken and specific focus has been made on the cells that cause diagnostic problems.

6Acknowledgements
I have no words of gratitude to express how indebted I feel to all my near and dear ones who have supported me in the completion of this not-so-easy task.
First, I would like to thank my Gurudev for blessing me with the endeavour and giving me such wonderful parents. They have nurtured me with so much of love, affection and care in every moment of my life. All that I am today is only because of them.
I also feel immense gratitude towards Dr Nitin Gangane for his support and help throughout my career.
