Who left us at the time when this book was getting its shape6
7Foreword
It is always heartening to see among my colleagues who indulge in compiling or authoring useful academic books. Even while it seems like a routine affair when such work from among our teacher fraternity gets a pat through this motivating chair, this is an honest stroke from an involved mentor and a concerned colleague for the efforts of a sufficing act in the education field.
Surana College, in its continued promotion of the fresh dimensions in educational sub-ventures has struck booty once more through this academically proliferative reference book. In the times when some of the subjects of humanities seem to have taken a back seat among the course aspirants for future career options, Economics subject off late is an exception. Moreover, it is so under the patronage of an institution with a conviction akin to the Surana's.
This work reflects an updated attempt true of an ever-learning teacher. It also calls for a better lauding as it comes through the difficult times of global economic low ebb and amidst the hectic schedules of the local semester system, especially in an avant-garde institution like the Surana's in Bengaluru.
It is more so refreshing when such work is accepted and well used by the student community. It is not the number of books or references made, but the quality of ingredients sought after by the compiler from those books that matter to befit the content of any compilation, which is true of this work too. Especially, the chapters in this book are of an indigenous application, quite current to the practices of the day.
Yet again, the glossary reappears in the other end, displaying that every teacher continues to pursue the basic quality of studentship in a corner of the heart. Apt graphs and graphic, tables and bullets, heads, sub-heads and semi-headlines add to the good spice of the book.
Well measured, accounted names of a host of experts and social scientists available throughout the book is in itself a tribute to all those who matter in the field of economics then, now or ever.8
The book is also of a continued motivation for more of them in the fraternity to come forward with much more publications in competitive quantum, so that the educational exercises will get the fillip to sustain itself in the increasingly dynamic and challenging market.
I congratulate Mr Harish B, for this work and wish him many more achievements regularly.

9Preface
Economics has become one of the needful social sciences in the present scenario. Now-a-days, it is felt each one of us should impart the knowledge of Economics to face and solve day-to-day problems and challenges. The great Economic Depression faced by USA during 1929 would have made people of the entire world to know the crux of the Modern Economics, i.e. Macroeconomics. It is not just being treated as the subject of Arts Stream. The subject of Economics has a network of Commerce and Science streams. We are seeing a recent development in preparation of Curriculum for Health Sciences where Economics is included. The study of Economics is very essential from a common man to the richest person.
As every activity is directly or indirectly related to money, the knowledge of Economics is needed everywhere. Hence, a small effort is made here to construct a bunch of Economic ideas applicable to Health Science. This book titled “Nursing Health Economics” is very useful to the students and teachers of Health Sciences.
Utmost care is taken to simplify the concepts in relation to Health Science. It is developed in accordance with the Syllabus and some concepts designed for the benefit of readers to understand the working of domestic and global economy.
Special care has been taken to avoid gaps in the sequential arrangement of topics and logical development of concepts and ideas of economic theory and their relevance to Nursing Health Sciences.
