Abstract

Headache is the most common symptom in medical practice. Migraine: Site of Headache invariably frontotemporal region and is usually unilateral. Many cases however the headache may start in occipital area and migrate to frontotemporal area. Throbbing pain fortification spectrum is cardinal feature of visual aura. Other symptoms include mood changes, patients may feel irritable and may find he/she makes mistakes in their normal day to day activities. Sometimes patients may be very energetic, migraine with and without aura, familial hemiplegic migraine, basilar type migraine, abdominal migraine, retinal migraine. Complications of migraine status migrainous, Migainons infarction, migraine triggered seizures, general features of aura scotoma, visual distortion microscpsias, macroscopsias are more common in children. Sensory symptoms numbness, tinglings in face hand, or in hemisensory distribution dysphasia, incoordination, fluctuating level of consciousness. Basilar type migraine: young females symptoms suggest posterior fossa involvement. Bilateral dysarthria, vertigo, Double vision, ataxia decreased level of consciousness. Temporal arteritis age above 60 years ESR Elevated, immediate response to steroids. Polymyalgia rheumatia, loss of appetite, weight loss, low grade pyrexia temporal artery biopsy is diagnostic post traumatic headache usually accompanied by poor concentration, memory disturbance, dizziness, and visual disturbances. Papilloedema is a sign of importance in headache due to raised intracranial tension. Intense throbbing pounding headache is a feature of raised intracranial tension. Nausea, vomiting, photophobia are noteworthy symptoms and papilloedema is the sign of importance.
