Abstract

This chapter discusses glaucoma surgery with Fugo plasma blade. Fugo blade is a unique electro-surgical device that ablates much like an excimer laser. Trans-ciliary filtration is explained. The technique allows the drainage of the posterior chamber to the sub-conjunctival space. The track passes through the ciliary body. Trans-conjunctival trans-ciliary filtration (TC-TCF) is described. Singh microtrack filtration is the simplest way to create a filtration track. Ab-interno filtration with Fugo blade is discussed. It explains the role of lymphatics in health and after glaucoma surgery. Fugo blade is an important development. The plasma energy from this tool can do any kind of classical glaucoma operation, such as trabeculectomy, non-perforating filtration, cyclodialysis and the fixation of a glaucoma valve, with unmatched finesse. Plus there are options for newer and simpler techniques. Fugo blade reduces surgical trauma.
