7Foreword
It is a pleasure to write a Foreword for the book titled Comprehensive Notes in Ophthalmology by Dr Chinmaya Sahu. As indicated in his Preface, he has prepared this book for the Postgraduate students to revise before appearing for the exam. He has indicated that the book is not meant to be used as textbook.
The book covers the subject well in a systematic manner. It refers to many recent research studies which are useful for a practitioner as well. I am very impressed with numerous charts spread all over the text. I sincerely hope that the author endeavours to include photographs and drawings in the next edition.

9Preface
During my Postgraduate studies, I often faced the problem of deciding which textbook to read, as some topics were well-covered in certain textbooks while others were not.
Also, during exams, revising the subject used to be a daunting task. There used to be a pile of books around me and looking at them would send a shudder down my spine!!
That is when I felt the need for compiling a book that would cover all the important topics in one book.
This book is an attempt to cover the most important topics in Ophthalmology in an exhaustive and lucid manner.
It is designed keeping the interest of postgraduate students in mind and is meant to be used as a support while preparing for exams. It can also be used to get a comprehensive picture of the particular topic in the shortest time possible.
A special word of appreciation for Sankara Nethralaya, for being my teacher and opening my eyes to the beautiful world of Ophthalmology.
There might be many errors which I hope you will pardon and bring to my notice. Ophthalmology is a vast and ever-changing science. It will be my constant endeavour to update and keep pace with the trends.
A lot of hard work has gone into compiling this book and it is my sincere hope that this book will ease your path while preparing for exams!!
