7Foreword
I feel very much happy and a great pleasure to write the foreword for this book Nursing Theories: A Practical View written by D Elakkuvana Bhaskara Raj, teaching Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing Theories, Nursing Education, Nursing Research, Nursing Management at Padmashree Institute of Nursing, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
It is a well-known fact that there are the few books on nursing theories available in the market which do not cover the practical aspects of the subject. The present book has tried to fulfill this deficiency in the field of nursing theories by the eminent author, who struggled tirelessly to complete this task.
It is important that nursing theory's textbooks for nursing students must be written in such a way that enable both students and teachers to improve and update their knowledge on the subject.
D Elakkuvana Bhaskara Raj has had long experience of teaching nursing theories to the students of various courses in the nursing college. Owing to his deep knowledge and method of teaching his experience had a great value for nursing students.
The book is written in simple language and it covers the conceptual models of nursing theories and its application in nursing process. There are totally six chapters and each chapter is explained in detail with appropriate examples.
At the end of each chapter, references are given. The last chapter gives the summary of each theory in brief.
I am very much confident that this book will be useful for postgraduate nursing students, basic nursing students and post certificate basic nursing students to develop better understanding and apply the nursing theory to improve the client care.
8I am sure that this book will meet a long-felt need and will be widely used and it will make a worthy contribution to the development of nursing.
I congratulate D Elakkuvana Bhaskara Raj for his commendable contribution to the field of Nursing.
