FM7Preface
The role of a psychiatric nurse has undergone rapid and dynamic changes in recent years. The present day practising nurses also require a concise, ready reference source for better understanding of mental illnesses and mental health problems, in order to take proper care of their patients.
The chapters in this book are organized in logical sequence based on practical view. The text deals with the history of mental health care, legal aspects, classification of mental disorders, communication and therapeutic relationship, various mental disorders with nursing care and community psychiatry.
Appendices provide an easy and practical guide to important short answers and NANDA diagnosis.
The book is written in a simple style and easy-to-understand language at the level of standard patient care. It is benefited to BSc and MSc (Nursing) students.
I have made sincere and hard effort to bring out this book in an understandable and applicable manner for health care professionals to practise psychiatric nursing. Your constructive criticisms and valuable suggestions for improvement are welcomed.
