It gives me immense satisfaction to present the second edition of Principles and Practice of Nursing based on the course and curriculum of nursing foundations practical to our nursing readers.
This edition retains the features of that have already been included while introducing revisions that will make the content more relevant. The rationales given in Appendix B have been included in the text side by side in this edition for easy access by the readers. A new Chapter 21 that covers common antenatal, intranatal and postnatal procedures, have also been included in this edition.
Every care has been taken to keep the text comprehensive, well illustrated and still handy to enhance its utility.

With a feeling of immense pleasure, I present this text to the students, educators and practitioners in nursing. Although a lot of literature is available to acquire and gain mastery over the essential clinical skills of nursing, yet students, educators and practitioners continue to search for better material to satisfy their needs and curiosity and also to fulfill their professional and legal accountability. Hence, this book tries to cover all these aspects plus helps the student to acquire the clinical skills through an approach that is quite simple and easily accessible.
