7Preface
It gives me an immense pleasure to introduce a textbook on nursing education. Indeed, I feel happy to write a textbook on nursing education. I always think and be proud of our profession where we have the opportunity to serve the humanity. Everyone accepts the demand for nurses globally. It is the responsibility of the society especially the nursing regulatory mechanisms to monitor the preparation of nurses to meet the societal and global demand. The nurse educators are accountable to this cause and ultimately held responsible for the preparation of nurses.
Nursing education as a subject has to be studied for two purposes that is to understand what nursing education is and to teach and enhance the teaching-learning process for learning other nursing subjects. A teacher who understands the concept of teaching and learning and who has the attitude to teach will automatically develop skill in teaching. A student who understands the basic concept of learning will learn quickly.
With this concept and belief, this textbook is prepared to share and communicate the principles of nursing education. This book will be of great use to undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students who can easily follow and understand the concepts as it is organized sequentially and written in a simple language. This book will also be a good reference book for the nursing teachers who have the passion to teach and educate the nursing students and the nurses.
I would appreciate the readers for their suggestions and comments for the improvement of the content of the book.
R Sudha
