Readers of the series of Current Practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CPOG) would notice one distinct change from the previous two volumes. CPOG-3 has become theme-based. The aim of CPOG series was to provide valuable insight to readers in recent advances and thinking in different aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, which are current and may be even controversial. However, with CPOG-3 the amorphous nature of subjects broaching upon different aspects of obstetrics and gynecology gets changed into a thematic focus of the volume. Therefore, in this, we have identified endometriosis as a theme and have invited renowned authorities in the subject of gynecology to give their understanding of the subject from different angles.
Why endometriosis? Like obstetric vasculopathies in obstetrics, endometriosis in gynecology has many controversial features. It would not be an exaggeration to state “controversies in gynecology, the second name is endometriosis.” Therefore, managing endometriosis in itself is a challenge. At the same time, there are so many unsolved paradigms of endometriosis that science around this condition seems to be continuously evolving and changing. Therefore, to begin with we decided to cover endometriosis. Right from the etioepidemiology to the seemingly unsolved aspects of pregnancy loss and infertility, all get covered in this volume.
We are very thankful to all our esteemed and renowned contributors for sharing their expertise and knowledge in the subject with all of us.
While placing CPOG-3 in the hands of our esteemed readers, we seek blessings from The Lord Almighty to ensure that this volume, like the previous ones, becomes valid and evolves into a very competent reference book for students and practitioners of the subject equally.
