Community health nursing is a specialized branch in nursing as it holds major responsibilities of health sector, i.e. through it the health status of people can safeguarded and improved. Community health nursing has its own theoretical and conceptual underpinnings. Many of these are drawn from public health sciences. These include concepts of community health, nutrition, environmental health, health planning, health reports, health education and communication skills, epidemiology, behavioral sciences, personal hygiene, and biomedical waste management.
Community health nursing has goal to help the individuals, families and community in attaining highest standard of health by means of prevention of illnesses and promotion of health. Community health nurse's special concerns are looking after healthy families, treatment of patients who are not hospitalized and health problems of the community.
Manual of Community Health Nursing textbook designed to assist students in developing expertise and in-depth understanding in the field of community health nursing. It would help students to appreciate holistic lifestyle of individual, families, groups and develop skills to function as community health nursing specialist/practitioner. It would further enable the students to function as an educator, manager and researcher in the field of community health nursing.
Manual of Community Health Nursing textbook to fulfill the need of community health nurses holistically. The community health administration and management has been discussed in detail, which fulfills the need of INC syllabus.
