5Preface
This book is written to meet the long-standing demand of the students. It is not a textbook. All the readers are requested to go through a textbook before reading this manual. This manual is very much helpful for undergraduate and postgraduate students of medical fraternity, students of nursing and also for clinicians who practice in the field of obstetrics. Much emphasis is paid on four essential attributes like knowledge, skill, experience and judgment to tackle the different obstetrical problems in day-to-day practice.
This manual mainly deals with the practical aspects of obstetrics including specimen, instruments, operations and to identify, investigate, diagnose and manage more common clinical problems in the field of obstetrics. Essential diagrams, photographs, tables and flow charts have been judiciously selected. The interventions described are based on latest scientific evidence. Majority of the chapters are written in questions and answers form which are commonly asked in examinations. The questions have also been divided into different categories.
So this book is very much helpful for the students for a quick revision purpose before any practical examinations of India and abroad. It may also be used as a bedside guide.
The readers will determine the strength and weakness of this edition. Feedback is always welcome for further revised edition.
