Dear colleagues and friends,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome all participants to this AICOG 2013 precongress workshop on Oncology.

Gynaec Oncology is now well recognised as a speciality in India. Tremendous advances have occurred in this field over the past decade, both in surgical Oncology and Preventive Oncology.

The workshop is divided into 2 halves: in the morning session we bring you surgical Oncology and in the afternoon Preventive Oncology. In the morning session, we have stalwarts demonstrating different surgical techniques- open, laparoscopic and robotic. Video presentations on surgery for ovarian cancer and vulval cancer will be shown. The panel discussion will focus on how to tackle surgical complications.

The face of medicine is changing. The focus on Preventive medicine is much more than before. Screening for cervical cancer is an important responsibility of each and every gynaecologist. The role of HPV infection in the genesis of cervical cancer is now well established. Experts in colposcopy will demonstrate this technique. HPV testing and interpretation of reports and counselling of the patient will be discussed. Recent advances in HPV vaccination will also be discussed.

This workshop includes a mix of video presentations, lectures, panel discussions and hands on training. Hands on training on the LEEP procedure will be available.

A galaxy of eminent specialists in the field on gynaecologic oncology will be participating in AICOG2013. It promises to be an academic feast.
