Dermatology has become an integral part of medical students' training, as nearly 10 per cent of all the patients, visiting the general physicians have skin diseases. With advances in the diagnosis and treatment, it has become possible to treat nearly all the skin diseases. Newer therapeutic tools can now treat even the diseases which were considered incurable earlier. With this book, we wish to provide a comprehensive approach to recognise, diagnose and treat the common skin diseases encountered in the day-to-day clinical practice.

We are very grateful to many people for their direct and indirect support to bring out this edition. To name a few, Dr R Mahesh, Dr Laxmishanker, Dr Anshul Avijit and Dr Amit Malhotra have helped us in the preparation for the study material.
