9Preface
Dermatology is expanding everywhere in basic understanding, clinical diagnosis, investigation and therapy. Today, thousands of pages are written and published all over the world. Students, practitioners and dermatologists face difficulty to follow-up this advancement regularly. In this book, we have tried to accommodate some of the recent advances. The book entitled Common Skin Diseases—A Clinical Approach is being published so that this ever-expanding knowledge on skin diseases can be identified and assimilated easily. With my personal experience of more than 30 years in teaching and treating the patients, I have selected the subjects and prepared them for easy learning. The subjects are well chosen and presented in alphabetical order. This book is an extension of my previous book Essentials of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy and is expected to be of immense value for students studying MBBS, BSc Nursing, DVD and MD courses and also practitioners. The chapters are complemented with clinical photographs and histopathological microphotographs.
Highlights of this book are illustration of procedures, therapy and clinical description. We look forward to widespread acceptance of this book and sincerely hope that it will be extremely helpful and beneficial in the field of dermatological education. I hope that newer aspects will be dealt with in the future editions of the book.
