Abstract

Ectopic pregnancy is a complication of pregnancy where embryo implants outside the uterine cavity resulting in the formation of pseudo gestational sac in endometrium. In ectopic pregnancy uterine size is enlarged with no gestation sac and yolk sac. Differentiation between sacrococcygeal teratoma anterior myelomeningocele and other presacral masses is easy as biochemical tests are available which check the levels of amniotic fluid alpha-fetoprotein and acetylcholinesterase. Ovarian masses are classified histologically as epithelial tumors constituting 95% of all malignant neoplasms of ovary, stromal or sex cord tumors which are malignant in nature and varying in appearance. Leiomyoma and fibroma are considered low in MRI classification where as dermoid and endometrioma are considered high. The causes for absent intrauterine pregnancy with positive pregnancy test are ectopic pregnancies, very early intrauterine pregnancy, recent abortion, molar pregnancy or gestational trophoblastic neoplasia.
