Medicine is undergoing speedy progress and it is true for anesthesiology as well. With all the advances, anesthesia and analgesia for labor and delivery is getting safer and patient friendly too. Labor analgesia is more acceptable and in demand these days.
We are very happy to cover the area of analgesia and anesthesia in two volumes of World Clinics series. The first issue covered basic aspects of the subject and this issue covers the vital issues of labor analgesia and anesthesia, such as myths and reality; minimum standards; initiation of labor analgesia; maintenance of labor epidural analgesia; pharmacological issues; management and complications of labor analgesia; intrapartum fetal monitoring and resuscitation; troubleshooting: making labor analgesia work; coagulation issues and labor analgesia; medicolegal aspects of obstetric anesthesia practice; advanced technique such as ultrasound guided blocks; and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
We are confident that the two issues on obstetric analgesia will provide current and relevant knowledge and understanding to the practicing physicians.
We have very carefully chosen the clinical content in this issue of the World Clinics and best experts in the field have contributed to this issue. I hope that this endeavor yield fruitful results.
