Color Atlas of Clinical Dermatology
First Edition: 2015
Printed at
5Dedicated to
My beloved Father (Late) Prof Ghulam Shabbir,
the Founder of Dermatology in Pakistan, who always
advised and guided me for the progress of the subject
This atlas is intended primarily for medical students, general practitioners, residents in dermatology and internal medicine. Moreover, a color photograph is perhaps the most useful learning material in dermatology. The projection in this atlas of skin diseases on a colored background will aid the physician in making a correct diagnosis. A brief description has been given for an easy interpretation. The book contains 260 colored photographs of various diseases. All the photographs have been taken by our audio-visual section. Most are from patients seen in the outdoor and some are from inpatients admitted in the ward.
This book, in a sense, is a tribute to our teacher Prof Ghulam Shabbir (Late), the Founder of Dermatology in Pakistan. The co-authors, Dr Shahbaz Aman and Dr Muhammad Nadeem's tireless review of the text has made it a remarkable effort. Dr Syed Ahmad Ali Gardezi and Dr Danish Abbas Kazmi generously gave their valuable time and suggestions at every stage; without their inestimable help, this book would not have been completed. We also wish to acknowledge the hard work done by our computer operators Mr Umer and Mr Usman for completing the job efficiently.
The book has also been designed as a study guide to help the medical student or physician learn the subject of dermatology in a way he or she will encounter in daily practice. The color photographs illustrate the differences that lead to a diagnosis. It is our goal that this book serves as the ideal source for medical students, residents or practising physician dermatologists or non-dermatologists.
