7Preface
Welcome to the 4th Edition of KD Tripathi's MCQs in Pharmacology. The last edition of this book was published in 2004. This timeframe gave the authors/editors to follow the evolvement of updated and current information so as to ensure that the questions are practical and contemporary. Such questions will provide the student with refreshing exercise in mind juggling with pharmaceutical principles.
Some of the questions from the earlier editions have been deleted and many new questions relevant to the current information have been added/updated.
The answers to these MCQs are based on the current 7th Edition of “Essentials of Medical Pharmacology” authored by KD Tripathi.
Hence, it is recommended that after reading and understanding a chapter from the textbook, the student answers the MCQs and then assesses for himself/herself whether he/she has learnt it correctly or incorrectly and accordingly rectify the drawback/mistake. This shall facilitate the students to acquire relevant and clear-cut knowledge of the pharmacological principles and therapeutics.
Due to their objective pattern and reliability MCQs are frequently used as an assessment tool in many of the competitive entrance examinations both in India and abroad. Hence, it is imperative to inculcate in the students from their early professional course the MCQs type of questions which assess their ability to understand, grasp and apply their knowledge.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family members, relatives, friends and the departmental staff members for their active support, suggestions and solutions.

Furthermore, the efforts put in by the editorial staff, the Project Manager, especially Ms Payal Bharti and her team is highly commendable and appreciated.
Despite repeatedly checking for any typographic/factual errors, there could be a possibility of any mistakes that might have inadvertently crept in. Hence you are kindly requested to notify us for any errors and send us your valuable feedback on ways and means of improving this book. Your healthy criticism, appreciation and recommendations are most welcome.
