Many devoted practitioners who provide skin health to psoriatics, our committed teachers of dermatology, the millions who suffer from psoriasis, and most of all to our spouses for their care, love, and affection without which this humble piece of work would not have been a reality.6
7Foreword
The practice of medicine requires the acquisition of knowledge and skills, and the learning of attitudes and behaviors, apart from the manner in which it is disseminated. Professor Jayakar Thomas has exemplified this in his book on psoriasis.
I have many reasons for my pleasure in writing the foreword for this title Textbook of Psoriasis . Having known Professor Jayakar Thomas for over three decades stands foremost of all. He is an enthusiastic celebrity in dermatology. I have been reading his several works—original articles, chapters in books, and also his other books.
In this book, he has interweaved clinical, pathological, and therapeutic details of psoriasis in such a reader-friendly manner that represents any international publications. The clinical images are a feast to the eyes and well illustrated.
All the other contributors deserve to share this honor of preparing and putting in volume of effort to publish this book.
It is my opinion that this book can ill afford to be missed out a place in any medical library and the hands of any physician.
I wish Professor Jayakar Thomas and all the contributors to continue their work on similar great titles.

9Preface
“Knowledge, if not shared is of no use at all.”
Over the years, advances in dermatologic science have been spectacular. We are pleased to present this Textbook of Psoriasis as a follow-up to our earlier title Psoriasis—a closer look . Bearing in mind that virtually every area of dermatology and dermatology education has evolved remarkably, and that many new concepts have emerged, this book has been written extensively in the light of the varied needs of the book's readers.
This title offers a thoroughly updated presentation of the classic pathophysiology, basics of clinical presentation, and the details of the cutting-edge methods and tools that are now available for the assessment of symptoms and the effective management of psoriasis. The text is supplemented by to-the-point photographs, radiographs, illustrations, and patient-care algorithms and tables.
We wish all readers a happy and fruitful reading.
