Abstract

This section describes the newer technologies used in diabetes. This section covers the long-term prediction of cardiovascular outcomes by circulating CD34+ and CD34+CD133+ stem cells in patients with type 2 diabetes, plasma glycated CD59, a novel biomarker for detection of pregnancy-induced glucose intolerance, proteomics for prediction of disease progression and response to therapy in diabetic kidney disease, the gut microbiome as a target for prevention and treatment of hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes, type 2 diabetes remission rates after laparoscopic gastric bypass and gastric banding, angiogenic effects of low-intensity cathodal direct current on ischemic diabetic foot ulcers, and comparison of insulin pump therapy and multiple daily injections insulin regimen in patients with type 1 diabetes during Ramadan fasting.
