Contributors Foreword
Right now I am experiencing an amazing feeling while writing this foreword. This is because of my emotional attachment to this piece of immense commitment of Faculty of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Maulana Azad Medical College of which I have been associated in the past. As always this handbook is going to be of great help for the students of Obs/Gyne before examinations and also in day-to-day management of patients. I am so sure students will enjoy reading flowcharts and algorithms and tables with colorful illustrations while preparing for examinations. Not only that, chapters on specimens, instruments, surgical procedures MCQ and OSCE are going to be of great help for the examination going postgraduates as well as undergraduates. I congratulate Dr Latika Sahu, Dr Chetna A Sethi and Dr Bidhisha Singha, Dr Asmita M Rathore, for editing this book and all the experienced faculty members for contributing different topics. The involvement of junior and senior residents in as part of teaching and learning process in bringing out this excellent book is unique.

Preface
It gives us immense pleasure and satisfaction to present this book Clinical Handbook of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This book presented concisely and aims at comprehensive presentation of almost all topics covering Obstetrics and Gynecology so that at a time students can go through this single book for basic preparation for examination as well as clinical management of patients. This book is targeted for postgraduate students as per their theory and practical viva examination requirement as well as preparation for super-specialty or FNB entrance examinations. Most of the chapters of this book will be useful for undergraduates to address their theory and practical viva examination as well as postgraduate's entrance or CMSE examinations. This book is comprehensive with figures, clinical or operative photographs, flowcharts and tables, making it more students' friendly.
This book has three parts—Obstetrics, Gynecology and Exam Preparatory sections. Part-1 Obstetrics has 9 sections and 83 chapters; Part-2 Gynecology has 10 sections and 55 chapters; and Part-3 Exam Preparation has 6 sections and 8 chapters. Part-1 and Part-2 provide comprehensive theory knowledge and Part-3 provides MCQs for entrance examinations and OSCE questions, charts and pictures or figures for practical and viva in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The various chapters presented here consolidate the knowledge and outline the evidence to support certain clinical practices. The approach in this book is to present an overview of the topic as concise text of standard textbooks.
This book prepared and produced by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Maulana Azad Medical College and Lok Nayak Hospital, New Delhi, contains the long teaching experience of the faculty. The editors have managed to persuade leaders in the field to write for this edition. The chapters are authored by faculty and residents with their first-hand experience, knowledge, wisdom and hard work. Every attempt has been made to use current best evidence while preparing the manuscript. The contents represent state-of-the-art reviews on common and important topics on obstetrics and gynecology.
We believe that the readers will find the chapters stimulating as a source of updating their knowledge and helpful in the handling of clinical problems with implementation of more rational and individualized treatment plans. This book is the outcome of dedicated efforts of many faculty and residents. It is our proud privilege to show our gratitude to one and all.
