This latest volume of Recent Advances in Surgery 33 follows a familiar pattern. We have invited contributions, which address important and topical subjects in Surgery in General and in the major subspecialties of General Surgery.
In gastrointestinal surgery, we have chapters on pseudo-obstruction, pelvic floor disorders, therapeutic endoscopy and the surgical treatment of chronic pancreatitis and gallbladder cancer. Vascular surgery is moving forward into endovascular management but trauma is always with us and requires a range of traditional vascular surgical skills. Non-surgical advances have improved the results of treatment for breast cancer. We focus on the contribution made by the UK breast screening program.
As always, we take a wide-ranging look through randomized clinical trials and meta-analyses published last year, and we also have a contribution on the assessment of quality of trial publications, which we hope will be useful.
We are pleased to be working with our new publisher. We aim to maintain the high standards of the past, and we are confident that Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd., has produced a book of the highest quality, which will be valued by practicing surgeons and examination candidates in General Surgery.
