5Preface
This book is a collection of selected imaging studies intended to provide medical students, residents and practitioners a glimpse into the spectrum of cases that a modern radiology department of a tertiary care hospital deals with. This concise, practical resource presents applications of 128-slice MDCT, 1.5 Tesla MR and Ultrasonography/Doppler imaging to a range of disease conditions with state-of-the-art cardiovascular imaging. We hope this compact, easy-to- read text with high quality images will stimulate the medical students as well as clinicians to explore further how imaging can help making diagnoses and how to ask more and more from the radiologists!

6Acknowledgments
Our gratitude in multitude to our ever dynamic Chairman, Padmashree Dr G Bakthavathsalam, who has been a beacon of knowledge in the field of medicine, who conceived the idea for this book and provided the academic milieu enabling us to write this book. At a personal level, he is a great mentor, philosopher and guide who infuses enthusiasm in us constantly, propelling us to achieve greater heights.
Not many tasks can be completed without the support of colleagues and friends. We are highly indebted to the many friends in our department who have contributed ideas on the content and organization of the book.
We have been extremely fortunate to have expert radiographers and nursing staff in our team, who have helped perform safe and quality studies thus providing high quality images which makes the analysis and diagnosis- making process easier.
Finally, our clinical colleagues at KG Hospital have made the challenge of diagnosis making a pleasure and we thank them for their superb cooperation and support over the years.
