7Preface to the Second Edition
The subject pharmacology is developing very fast. The practical of pharmacology being taught in undergraduate curriculum has also changed. The animal experiments are not taught in undergraduates instead different charts are given to the students to interpret. The sample prescriptions are given for criticism and different types of drug delivery system are taught. In this book, I have tried to cover different pharmacology practicals being taught in different Indian universities. Students can judge their knowledge of pharmacology by MCQs.
Dr Chanchal Kumar Dalai, Dr Tirthankar Deb, Dr Abhishek Ghosh and Dr Kushal Banerjee, all my departmental colleagues suggested me how to improve this book.
I am grateful to Shri Jitendar P Vij (Group Chairman), Mr Ankit Vij (Group President) and Mr Tarun Duneja (Director–Publishing) of M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd, New Delhi, India, for publishing this book.
I must thank Mr Sushil Shaw and Mr Sabyasachi Hazra of M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd, Kolkata Branch. Without their efforts, my handwritten manuscript could not get this book form. I must thank Ms Shilpi Dutta for sincerely reading the proof and correcting it.

I bestow this book to undergraduate students for quick review of their practical class and self-assessment of their knowledge of pharmacology. This book is not a substitute for their practical, demonstration and tutorial classes. I will be grateful if I get any suggestion from undergraduate students and the teachers who actively engage in undergraduate teaching to improve this book in future edition. I am grateful to my teachers and students who encouraged me to write this book.
Shri Jitendar P Vij (Chairman and Managing Director), Mr Tarun Duneja, General Manager (Publishing), Mr Sanjay Chakraborty, (Assistant Branch Manager) Kolkata Branch, Ms Bano, PA to GM and other staff of M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd, New Delhi, need special thanks for shaping my ideas in a book form.
