PREFACE
Over the years, I have always been overwhelmed with too many tricky questions on oral pathology both as a student and as a teacher and often silently observed the fiery passion by which these questions are thrown at the students during examinations. It is obvious that during examination, the examiners expect the students to answer at least questions from the most basic and the most important topics from various chapters in the syllabus. On the other hand, it is also not always clear to the students as to which topics from which chapters are more important during the theory examinations or as a matter of fact during viva examinations. In any case, the best way to study any subject is always by going through the standard textbooks and oral pathology is no exception in that regard. However, the mode of preparation for theory examination is not always the same as it is for the viva examination. Hence, special preparations are always necessary when students make their final preparation for viva and practical examinations, as they need to remember too many things in too little time. In this regard Exam Preparatory Manual for Undergraduates: Oral Pathology will hopefully be a very helpful book for the students; as it is entirely a book on “short questions and answers on the subject of Oral Pathology and Microbiology”.
This book will help the student to understand which questions are more important from which chapter from the vast syllabus and not only that, they will also get the readymade answers for every question from every chapter. Moreover, sincere efforts have been made here to highlight the important topics from different chapters so that the students feel no difficulty in facing the examinations.
It is, therefore, a matter of distinct honor for me to present the first edition of my new book titled Exam Preparatory Manual for Undergraduates: Oral Pathology to the students of dentistry in general and the students of oral and maxillofacial pathology in particular and also to my friends in the field of teaching. I shall be immensely happy if the students are benefited a little by this book and they are requested to consult the standard textbooks in case of any doubt arising in relation to any answer given in this book. Valuable suggestions will be welcomed for the further improvisation of the book.
I am obliged to my family for sharing the pressure with me during the entire course of this project and grateful to Shri Jitendar P Vij (Group Chairman), Mr Ankit Vij (Managing Director) and Mr Tarun Duneja (Director-Publishing) of M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd, New Delhi, India, for giving me the opportunity to work with them and make this title successful.
