FM7Foreword
Being associated with the paramedical education for more than two decades, I can acknowledge that this third edition of Clinical Pathology, Hematology and Blood Banking (For DMLT Students), written by Nanda Maheshwari, is like a handbook for paramedical students.
Various aspects of the subject are covered in a simple manner, making the students understand the concept by just reading it. The reference diagrams and charts make it easier to relate with tests/practicals for the students and laboratory professionals.
The level of this book is rising with changes in technology and need of time. Chapters added in this edition make this book a complete solution for many medical as well as paramedical students. I wish for the success of this edition like her earlier titles and editions. May Almighty, give her courage and achievements she deserves.

FM9Preface to the Third Edition
The immense love and response received from the students for earlier edition of Clinical Pathology, Hematology and Blood Banking(For DMLT Students) has encouraged me to launch this third edition.
In this new edition, I have added new chapters and topics as per the latest update in the field of pathology. Along with the changes,I have tried to rectify earlier mistakes and explained various concepts using simple language and short sentences. Each topic covered in one small chapter makes it easy for the student to read. The primary objective of this book is to meet the requirements of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) and undergraduate students and serve as reference for paramedical professionals.
With the addition of chapters like cell pathology, body fluids and automation, this book stands as perfect notes for various medical, paramedical and degree courses.
The order and style of presentation in this book is similar to the first edition. The orientation of this book is to provide simple yet advanced content such that the book suffices the needs of not only DMLT/MLT/BScstudents but also students of diverse backgrounds who require an exposure to this field. I hope that the simple language, enhanced and illustrative images of this edition will boost your interest in the field of clinical pathology.
I welcome constructive criticism and suggestions from teachers, colleagues, students and interested readers for future edition.

FM11Preface to the First Edition
It gives me great pleasure to introduce this book on Clinical Pathology and Haematology. In this book, I have tried to solve the difficulty of students to understand the tests and getting the exact data. The aims and objects of this book are primarily to meet the requirements of DMLT and undergraduate courses.
Clinical Pathology and Haematology is an important subject of DMLT courses, but there is non-availability of good books on this subject. The books available are vast and mainly written for MBBS students. I have tried to overcome this problem by writing in easy language and providing exact data. I hope that this book will satisfy the needs of DMLT students.
I welcome constructive criticism and suggestions from teachers, colleagues and students for the next revised edition.

FM13Acknowledgments
It is a feeling of pride for me to introduce the third edition of Clinical Pathology, Hematology and Blood Banking (For DMLT Students) to my readers. No single person can take full credit for this final form.
I owe special thanks to my students and colleagues who provided valuable support. Rajesh Karajgoankar was a continuous source of inspiration for me during the course of writing this edition. He took great effort to write the foreword to this book. I am sincerely thankful to him.
In order to learn about the latest technological developments and current laboratory practices in the field, I visited Dr Phadke's Lab-SRL Diagnostics; during my visits, Dr Avinash Phadke and all his staff members especially were extremely helpful and patiently gave answers to all my queries. I am immensely grateful to the team of SRL Diagnostics, for their kind cooperation.
It took me almost a year to finish writing and compiling this work. During this period of research, writing the manuscript, editing, proof reading, etc., my husband Yogendra Maheshwari and my little angels Arushi and Kabir patiently cooperated with me. I would like to express my deepest thanks to my parents, Kusumlata and Ramesh ji Baheti; whatever I am today is a result of their confidence and blessings for me. My family, my uncle Dr Govind Jhawar and my friends encouraged me at every step in my work, providing constant moral support to me.
Lastly, my acknowledgment would remain incomplete without mentioning M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd, New Delhi, India, especially Shri Jitendar P Vij (Group Chairman), Mr Ankit Vij (Group President), Mr Tarun Duneja (Director-Publishing) and their team. My special thanks to them, for walking the extra mile and putting in great effort in publishing this book.
